Article Title: Nashville Public Library and NCVC Celebrate African-American History Month
Article: In recognition of African-American History month, the Nashville Public Library presents various events at each of its branches throughout the month of February.
  Kids will enjoy Wishing Chair Productions Anansi the Spider, a marionette play based on the African tales of a tricky spider who uses cleverness to achieve his wishes. Shows run Fridays and Saturdays, February 8-23 at 9:30, 10:30, and 11:30 a.m. at the downtown branch.
  Take a journey through old New York with the great master of jazz Duke Ellington in an all-ages puppet show, Ellingtown. The Puppet Truck will deliver the show throughout the library system.
  Special guests will appear at the North branch including local rapper Drenico, who will talk with teens on Feb. 19 at 10 a.m.; Councilmember Erica Gilmore, who will discuss famous African-American women and their impact on society on February 27 at 10 a.m.; and world renowned traveler and dancer Rossi Turner, who will perform on February 20 at 10 a.m.
  Other events include a talk at the Madison branch about Nashville native William Edmondson, the first African American to have a solo show at the Museum of Modern Art on February 23 at 2 p.m.; screenings of films like Remember the Titans at Goodlettsville on February 19 at 6 p.m., A Raisin in the Sun at Donelson on February 12 at 3:30 p.m., and the PBS documentary American Experience: Freedom Riders at Green Hills on Feb. 12 at 10 a.m.; and workshops on genealogy and ancestry.
  In addition, the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corporation as well as other venues will honor Black History Month with various events. All events are free.
