Article Title: Music City Kicks off Black History Month with the 2015 Edition of the Guide and a Host of Special Events

Article: As the month of February begins, several events throughout Music City will honor Black History Month. The 2015 edition of The African American Guide To Nashville is currently available. This edition features Darius Rucker, former lead rock guitarist of Hootie & the Blowfish, and takes a poignant look at his new success as an African American country music superstar and the obstacles he overcame to achieve success in such a mainstream dominated industry. In addition, the Guide features various African American owned businesses throughout Music City offering a variety of services all year long in addition to Black History Month. Moreover, venues such as the Downtown Public Library, local universities, and other venues will offer an array of activities for the month. The Hermitage will also celebrate Black History Month each Saturday in February as they commemorate the contributions of African-Americans to American life. The month concludes with the annual memorial service at Hermitage Church. For more information, call The Hermitage at (615) 889-2947 or visit www.thehermitage.com. For a more comprehensive list of activities at the Public Library, black colleges and more, visit www.visitmusiccity.com and search Black Heritage events.
