Article Title: 34th Annual African Street Festival to Converge at Hadley Park September 16-18
Article: The 34th Annual African Street Festival will hold its annual event at Hadley Park from September 16-18.
The three-day event will feature an array African culture including food, shopping, concerts, children’s event, fashion, and art shows, a children's pavilion (featuring arts and crafts), drumming, dance, storytelling an much more.
An eclectic mix of live music, such as African, Reggae, Latin, R&B, Jazz, Gospel, Neo-Soul, Country, Blues, will take center stage along with African drumming and spoken word all preceded by an opening night international music block party.
The festival remains one of the city's premiere events attracting people of all ages, from all walks of life and from all sectors of the region. The event has also expanded to include the cultures of the Caribbean, North, Central and South America and other places around the world where Africa is also represented in its people and cultures.
The African American Cultural Alliance (AACA), which hosts the event each year, was founded in May of 1983 by several concerned African American community members in Nashville who wanted to promote the positive aspects of African culture. The primary concern of the African American Cultural Alliance is to enhance the awareness of the cultural and historical background of people of African descent, while providing various outlets in which we ourselves can take part in demonstrating our culture to others.
The African Street Festival event can also give companies and other organizations a unique opportunity to support one of the largest festivals of this type in the Southeast.
