Article: | Defining Your Purpose will be the topic of discussion on Thursday, March 28 when Tennessee State University welcomes actress and entrepreneur Tasha Smith to campus. The event, part of the Distinguished Lecture Series sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs, will take place in the Forum in the Floyd Payne Campus Center beginning at 2:00 p.m. With more than 20 feature films and 70 plus episodes on National television, Tasha Smith is a dedicated and consummate professional actor who brings style and intense character portrayal to the screen. She has starred in three films by Tyler Perry including, “Why Did I Get Married?”, the sequel “Why Did I get Married Too” and “Daddy’s Little Girls.” Other films include “The Long Shots,” “Pastor Brown,” “Couples Retreat,” and “Something Like a Business.” Smith has also played a wide range of other roles in such feature films as “ATL”, “The Good Mother” and “The Whole Ten Yards.” She has also starred in the independent films, “Miles form Home” and “Playa’s Ball.” Smith is well known for her critically-acclaimed portrayal of the drug-addicted Ronnie Boyce in HBO’s Emmy Award-winning mini-series, “The Corner,” directed by Charles S. Dutton. The lecture is free and open to the public.
