Article Title: Music City Center Celebrates Grand Opening Celebration on May 19 and 20
Article: The much-awaited Music City Center will celebrate its grand opening on May 19 & 20, 2013. During the two-day extravaganza, guests can enjoy a free open house featuring live local music on both days. Phil Vassar and Ten Out of Tenn will perform on the east plaza on Sunday, May 19. Sheryl Crow will headline the free street party and concert on Monday, May 20. The Time Jumpers featuring Vince Gill, Fisk Jubilee Singers, and Mikky Ekko will also perform, ending with a finale of fireworks.
Other events include a fun walk with Mayor Karl Dean starting at Walk of Fame Park, and a ribbon cutting ceremony and State of Metro Address with the mayor as well.
The Music City Center began construction in January 2010 and is opening to the public almost 3 1/2 years later in downtown Nashville, TN. The 2.1-million-square-foot convention center boasts more than 353,000 square feet of exhibit space, 1.2 million square feet of public space, and a parking garage holding 1,800 parking spaces. The Center is working towards LEED Silver certification with its green roof, solar panels, and rainwater collection tank. Commissioned and acquired artworks from local and national artists will display throughout the Music City Center as one of the largest public art collections in the nation.
Mark your calendar and plan to being at one of the city’s most exciting events this year.
